Optics Simulation Researcher - Full Time

We are currently seeking a talented Research Scientist to join a team designing and developing advanced optical systems for displays and other applications.

The job will involve:

  •  Research and development using advanced optical simulations tools such as FDTD, diffraction analysis and ray tracing in the design of new products.
  •  Invention of novel systems and methods including patenting promising technology.
  •  Designing new prototypes and products using state of the art optical technology.
  •  Development of commercial products using their ideas with our Japanese colleagues and presenting their work to an international scientific community.

 Successful candidates will:

  •  Have a good understanding of optics and/or optical systems utilizing multiple optical components.
  •  Have a minimum 2:1 honours degree in Physics or relevant Engineering subject and ideally, a MSc/PhD in physics with specialisation in optics, or a graduate qualification with equivalent experience.
  •  Have at least one year’s postgraduate experience in one or more of the following: use of optical design tools (such as Zemax, ASAP, Lighttools, RSoft or similar) or in the design of complex optical systems.
  •  Have an interest in the detailed design of optical systems for products and applications that solve real world problems.
  •  Demonstrate strong creativity and a problem solving ability.
