Shared View Technology

Researchers at SLE have been working closely with colleagues in Sharp to develop Shared-View (SV) technology.

SV allows two different images to be viewed by two separate people from the same display. This has immediate application in cars where the passenger wishes to view a DVD, for example, and the driver wishes to view GPS or car data. This is in demand from car manufacturers due to recent safety legislation.

Sharp's SV Technology uses proprietary optical methods to split the two images by angle so that one image is visible from the left and the other image is visible from the right. The technology ensures that each user has a large degree of freedom to move from side to side without seeing any interference from the other image.

We believe this technology has applications not only in cars but also in many other display products.
