Displays with Integrated Drivers
Today’s display products are complex systems requiring sophisticated electronics for their operation. Traditionally, the circuits that supply image data to a display have been manufactured on silicon wafers and packaged up as ICs, for later connection to the display.
Working with colleagues in Japan however, our circuit engineers at Sharp Laboratories have helped pioneer new technologies that allow the complex circuitry that drives displays to be formed directly onto glass substrates. This technology allows us to form driver circuits at the same time as we fabricate a display and is helping us to create the next generation of ultra compact display modules with unprecedented levels of electronic performance.
