At home, at work and on the move, digital information appliances are finding their way into all areas of our lives. Sharp is a leading supplier of both electronic components (e.g., LEDs, displays, photovoltaic solar modules, sensors) and finished products (e.g., LCD televisions, mobile phones, home and business appliances). The Information Technology and Systems Group conducts research into hardware and software technologies that will enhance these advanced devices still further and create future business opportunities for Sharp.
Our group consists of members from a wide range of backgrounds in computer science, mathematics ,electronic engineering and language technology. We have particular interests in language, education, ubiquitous computing, and user interfaces.
Current research themes include the networked home of the future (especially the role of televisions and other devices in the provision of future networked services); new technologies for natural language processing and mobile learning, and new business models.
We also collaborate within Sharp’s global R&D network and with companies and universities.
