Biochip Sensors
The term ‘health’ is rapidly coming to mean much more than simply the avoidance of disease. Consumers are increasingly interested in taking an active role in managing their diet, exercise, and mental and physical wellbeing.
Demographic changes in most societies mean that the proportion of the population over 65 is growing rapidly. Consumers also have higher expectations of medical care than ever before. This leads to inevitable pressure on healthcare provision worldwide. Sharp believes that this pressure can be reduced by monitoring consumers’ health in their homes rather than needing to visit a doctor or hospital.
At SLE, we are researching novel, non-invasive methods of monitoring the state of a person’s health. Our ultimate aim is to develop biochip sensors that will help consumers make more informed choices about their health and diet on a daily basis.
