For example, we are investigating new actuator mechanisms that not only allow increased miniaturization, but also offer auto-focus, optical zoom and optical image stabilization. We are also trying to enhance optical depth of field – how much of the image we can keep in focus from a limited lens design – with variable apertures and new software techniques.
