The post holder responsibilities will include:
- Managing customer projects including project control, module specification, technical communication and sample planning
- Leading customer project meetings in both English and German including presentations and technical negotiations
- Effective project management including time and resource planning, risk evaluations and consideration of the commercial environment of Sharp and the commercial aspects of the projects

Microelectronics Research Engineer (Analogue)

The System Display Group comprises of approximately 25 engineers and scientists, developing next-generation technology for mobile devices. The main areas of research are display, sensor and wireless electronics, smartcards and bio-sciences.
The Display Integration team is responsible for the short and medium term development of CMOS display electronics on glass, using Sharps CG-Silicon and next-generation thin film transistor processes. The main outputs of the team are prototype systems and patent IP, which are transferred to business groups in Japan.
The post holder will provide analogue design expertise for both display and non-display projects within the group. The focus is on developing novel, low-power, high yield architectures in CG-Silicon which are suitable for mass production. There is also scope for development of IC-based solutions.
Publications at major conferences and in leading journals are encouraged. The main role will involve front-to-back analogue and mixed signal VLSI design using Cadence, Mentor Graphics and Synopsys tools. An ability to verify and support the testing of the silicon functionality is essential.

Sharp Laboratories of Europe Limited carries out research and development activities that play a key role in helping Sharp to innovate and create the technologies of the future.
SLE is building a comprehensive research and development programme on innovative technologies for renewable energy, primarily based on expoiting the power of the sun. We are seeking candidates to drive innovation in this area, from materials through device and product.
Candidates are sought with an interest in the any of the following areas:
New high efficiency materials for photovoltaic devices
Physics and simulation of photovoltaic devices and systems
Nanomaterials for energy technologies
Technologies for solid-state generation and storage of hydrogen
Biomimetic processes for solar energy
Applicants should have strong academic qualifications with at minimum a graduate qualification (2:1 or 1st) in physics, engineering, chemistry or a related discipline. In the case of more experienced candidates, a track record of quality and innovation in research as evidenced by significant publications, patents or other achievements is required. Experience in solar energy technologies will be an advantage. Relevant industrial experience will also be beneficial. Device Physicist

Working in a group of approximately 25 engineers and scientists engaged in research and development in the areas of cutting-edge mobile devices using proprietary Silicon on Insulator technology, Smartcards and the biosciences. A prime output of the group is patent IP in devices, circuits and systems to support a broad range of applications such as displays with monolithic drivers, controllers and interactive sensing through to audio, RFID and even future healthcare technologies.
The post holder will be involved in the research of novel devices and microelectronic circuits using proprietary Thin Film Transistor technologies. The primary aim of the research is to develop IP which can be patented and transferred to business groups in Japan. Publications at major conferences and in leading journals are encouraged. The main role will involve the design, characterisation, modelling and analysis of both existing and novel thin film device structures and sub-circuits. A strong understanding of the underlying semiconductor physical principles is essential for this role, as is a high level of proficiency in analysis and problem solving. For more senior positions, project management skills are essential for assessing feasinility, resource requirements and timescales of research projects.

Electronics Test Technician

Sharp Corporation is a world leader in optoelectronic components and related technology. Our European Design Centre, based on the Oxford Science Park, is seeking a Test Technician to provide an important role in verifying our latest technology.
As a Test Technician you will be joining a dynamic multidisciplinary team developing and evaluating future components and systems. You will be involved in testing the performance of electro-optics systems including optical measurement, interface and emissions testing.
You will ideally have relevant A Levels and a higher education or vocational qualification in a relevant technical field. You will be able to work on your own and exhibit high levels of attention to detail, consistency and methodical working practices. Experience of working in a laboratory or testing environment will be advantageous.
