We are housed in a purpose built laboratory on the Oxford Science Park and we are constantly updating the equipment that we use. Two class 1000 cleanrooms are essential for our research, as are the MBE (molecular beam epitaxy) machines, electron microscopes, optics labs, computers and software packages.
We have a subsidised staff restaurant, changing and shower rooms, and a tennis court for use at lunchtimes and evenings. Staff have free membership of all the Oxford City Council sports and leisure centres.
The Science Park is an exciting place. There are a number of start-up companies here and we are able to interact with them at informal events. The Park is a pleasant environment and a good place for a lunchtime walk (or run for the more energetic!) because of the wildlife that is encouraged here.
In 2005 we opened a small laboratory in Munich on the site of the Sharp Microelectronics of Europe offices.
